THE ROTATION OF THE EARTH AND THE MOON
PUTARAN BUMI DAN BULAN
1. The Earth is our planet and it rotates on its axis from west to east or anticlockwise direction.
Bumi merupakan planet kita dan ia berputar pada paksinya dari barat ke timur atau arah lawan jam.

2. It takes 24 hours or one day for earth to make one complete rotation.
Ia mengambil masa 24 jam atau satu hari untuk membuat satu putaran lengkap.
3. The Earth does not only rotate on its axis, but also moves around the Sun at the same time.
Bumi bukan sahaja berputar pada paksinya, tetapi Bumi juga beredar mengelilingi Matahari pada masa yang sama.

4. The Earth takes 365 1/4 (365.25) days or one year to make a complete movement around the Sun.

Bumi mengambil masa 365 1/4 (365.25) hari atau satu tahun untuk membuat satu peredaran yang lengkap mengelilingi Matahari.

5. The Moon rotate on its axis and takes 28 days to make one complete rotation.

Bulan berputar pada paksinya dan mengambil masa 28 hari untuk membuat satu putaran lengkap.

6. As the Moon rotates, it also moves around the earth.

Semasa Bulan berputar, ia juga beredar mengelilingi Bumi.

7. The Moon takes 28 days to move around the Earth.

Bulan mengambil masa 28 hari untuk beredar mengelilingi Bumi.

Peredaran Bumi & Bulan mengelilingi Matahari.

1. The Sun is the centre of the Solar System.

Matahari merupakan pusat Sistem Suria.

 2. The Earth & the Moon move around the Sun at the same time.
Bumi dan Bulan beredar mengelilingi Matahari pada masa yang sama.
3. The effects of the rotation of the Earth are as follows:
Kesan putaran Bumi adalah seperti berikut:
a) The Sun appears to rise in the East and sets in the West.
Matahari kelihatan terbit dari arah Timur dan terbenam di Barat.

b) The position and length of a shadow change throughout the day.
Kedudukan dan panjang bayang-bayang berubah-ubah sepanjang hari.

- Shadows changes its direction from west to east.

Bayang-bayang berubah dari barat ke timur.

6 to 11 a.m => Shadows are on the west

12 noon => shadow is on the centre  

1 to 6 p.m => Shadows are on the east

c) The formation of day and night.
