Adjectives bermaksud kata sifat. Ia menerangkan kepada kita tentang suatu objek, orang, haiwan atau tempat dengan lebih terpeinci. Biasanya ia merangkumi beberapa aspek seperti, warna, bentuk dan saiz.
Contoh:-
1. John is tall
=> tall bermaksud tinggi. Ayat ini menerangkan kepada kita bahawa John seorang yang tinggi.
2. The hippopotamus is a large and heavy animal.
=> large bermaksud besar dan heavy bermaksud berat.
Ayat ini menerangkan kepada kita bahawa badak air ialah seekor haiwan yang besar dan berat.
3. The beach of Pulau Tioman is beautiful.
=> beautiful bermaksud cantik atau indah. Ayat ini memberitahu kita bahawa pantai di Pulau Timan adalah cantik atau indah.
4. The flag is red.
=> red bermakna merah. Ayat ini memberitahu kita bahawa bendera itu berwarna merah.
Adjectives juga digunakan untuk membanding suatu benda atau seseorang itu dengan yang lain. Terdapat 3 jenis perbandingan dalam tatabahasa Bahasa Inggeris.
