The Lever / Tuas
1. Consist of a bar that rest on a support called FULCRUM as shown above. / Terdiri daripada sebatang rod kayu yang disokong oada satu titik dipanggil FULKRUM seperti yang ditunjukkan di atas.
2. The object that the lever lifts is called the LOAD. / Objek yang diangkat oleh tuas dipanggil BEBAN.
3. The force which turns the lever is called the EFFORT. / Daya yang digunakan untuk menurunkan tuas dipanggil DAYA.
4. The position of the fulcrum will determine the amount of effort that is needed to lift an object./ Kedudukan fulkrum kan menetukan jumlah daya yang diperlukan untuk mengangkat objek.
5. The lever help us in: / Tuas membantu kita:-
a) lifting an object / memgangkat objek
b) opening the lid of a can or bottle. / membuka tudung tin atau botol
c) pulling out nails./ mencabut paku
d) cutting object using a pair of scissors / mengunting objek
Lifting Heavy Load / Mengangkat Beban Yang Berat
1. Place the fulcrum as near to the load as possible. / Letakkan fulkrum sedekat yang boleh dengan beban.
2. Apply the force (effort) as far away as possible . / Mengenakan daya sejauh yang mungkin.

3. If the fulcrum is placed near the load, less force (efford) is needed to move the object / Jika fulcrum diletakkan berdekatan dengan beban, sedikit daya diperlukan untuk mengerakkan objek.
A lever with the fulcrum placed far away from the load
4. If the fulcrum is placed far away from the load, more force (effort) is needed to move the object. / Jika fulkrum diletakkan berjauhan dari beban, lebih banyak daya diperlukan untuk menangkat beban.
5. Based on the position of the fulcrum, effort and load, we can group levers into / berdasarkan kedudukan fulkrum, daya dan beban kita boleh kelaskan tuas kepada:-
a) First class levers
b) Second class levers
c) Third class levers
